Insulin syringes are used for subcutaneous injections. They are marked in Units on the insulin syringe barrel (see Insulin Syringe). Insulin Syringes facilitate the precise measurement of tiny amounts of liquids which are ideal for medications such as insulin that require small and accurate dosing. Unit marks are also expressed in mL’s and can be interchangeably referenced. A prescriber may write a prescription in Units or in mL’s. Within the amount of liquid is the prescribed mg dosage of Semaglutide (see mg chart). Milligrams (mg) is not an amount of liquid, but rather the amount of drug that is within. The conversion between units and milligrams varies depending on the concentration of the product being used.

Example 2.5 mg/mL = of Semaglutide in every 1.0 ml or 2.5 mg = 100 Insulin Units

Administration & Dosing

Semaglutide is administered subcutaneously once a week, typically with a starting dose of .25 mg and a maximum dose of 2.4 mg. Subcutaneously refers to a method of administering medication by injecting it into the layer of tissue directly beneath the skin, known as the subcutaneous tissue. This route of administration allows the medication to be absorbed into the bloodstream gradually. Subcutaneous injections are typically given at an angle into the fatty tissue of certain areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, or upper arms.

The exact administration technique may vary depending on the specific product and the healthcare provider's instructions. Typically, however, semaglutide is injected subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm due to those locations having sufficient fatty tissue.

For brand name medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, the semaglutide comes in a pre-filled pen device for easy self-administration. Your provider will provide instructions on proper injection technique and dosage adjustment if needed.

Semaglutide can also be taken orally as a daily tablet, lozenge, or sublingual liquid, with innovative pharmacies developing all sorts of ways to deliver the medication to patients in need.

Many medical providers recommend a dosing schedule like this:

  • Month 1 : 0.25 mg

  • Month 2 : 0.5 mg

  • Month 3 : 1 mg

  • Month 4 : 1.5 mg

  • Month 5 : 2 mg

  • Month 6 : 2.5 mg

Thinifi's dosing schedule is based on each patient's response to their medication and is at the discretion of a Thinifi practitioner.  Medication is dispensed in off-label dosing to reduce side effects and is titrated slower than commercially available dosages to ensure safe and effective, long-term weight loss.

Titration Schedule for Thinifi’s GLP-1 Weight Loss Program

At Thinifi, we take a personalized, cautious, and comprehensive approach to weight loss using GLP-1 medications. Unlike traditional weight loss medications that follow a rapid, aggressive dosing schedule, Thinifi’s GLP-1 dosing schedule is based on each patient’s unique response to the medication. We believe in a gradual titration process designed to minimize side effects while maximizing long-term, sustainable results.

Tailored Dosing for Optimal Results

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy (Semaglutide), and Mounjaro/Zepbound (Tirzepatide) are proven to help with weight loss by regulating hunger, improving insulin sensitivity, and reducing fat storage. However, these medications can sometimes cause side effects—especially when the dosage is increased too quickly. Traditional dosing protocols for medications like Ozempic and Wegovy tend to follow an aggressive titration schedule, where doses are rapidly increased every few weeks. While this may provide quick results, it can also lead to heightened side effects such as nausea, dizziness, and gastrointestinal discomfort.

Contact Thinifi Today

At Thinifi, we take a more careful approach to dosing. Our titration schedule is slower and more gradual compared to the standard protocols. We tailor the dosage to each patient’s specific needs and tolerance levels, adjusting it over time based on how they respond to the medication. This individualized plan reduces the risk of side effects and promotes a safer, more comfortable experience for our patients.
